Rental Housing and Apartments

City Ordinance #435 requires that no person shall occupy, allow to be occupied, or let to another for occupancy any rental property in the City of Sauk Rapids without having first obtained a rental license from the building official. 

 

Application for rental licenses can be obtained at City Hall.  Upon submission of the application, a fee shall be paid according to the following schedule:

• First dwelling unit or boarding room....$105.00
• Each additional dwelling unit or room..$53.00

After the application and fee have been received by the City, an appointment will be scheduled for an inspection of the unit or building for compliance with the Housing Code.  Upon compliance, a license will be issued by the Building Official.  Rental licenses are valid for two years, after which a new application and fee will be required.
