ISLAND VIEW PARK

DESCRIPTION: Island View Park is part of the cities regional park network along the Mississippi River. The park has a paved trail going through it and is part of the Oxcart Trail that connects all the cities river parks.

HISTORY: This area was first mapped as the Osauka Addition in 1867 and the land was acquired through various conveyances. The land was officially designated as Island View Park in 1996. The historic Red River Oxcart Trail ran through the area and was used for transporting goods in carts pulled by oxen between trading posts and forts prior to the railroad being built.
FACILITIES: Paved recreational trail, footpath worn trails, nature observation, and fishing.
