Tips for Avoiding Delays on Election Day

  •  Pre-register to vote--Voters can now register online at the Secretary of State’s website or by submitting a completed voter registration application to the Benton County Auditor’s office. The pre-registration deadline for online applications is 11:59p.m. 21 days before Election Day.For 2026, the last day to pre-register to vote for the State Primary Election is July 21st. The last day to pre-register for the General Election is October 13th. 

     

  • Know where your polling place is located—Voters are only allowed to vote at the polling location for the precinct in which they reside.  Sauk Rapids has 5 different precincts. With there being two polling places at the Sauk Rapids Government Center, it is important to know your specific precinct number. To find your specific polling place and precinct number, please visit https://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/ or contact City Hall at (320) 258-5303. Below is a listing of all of the City’s polling places:

Will Be A Mail Ballot Precinct Until Further Notice

 

  • Plan to vote in the late morning or early afternoon to avoid longer lines— Polling places are open from 7:00a.m. until 8:00p.m. on Election Day. Please allow extra time for voting. City staff and our dedicated election judges appreciate your patience and understanding.
  • Bring Proper Documentation—If you fail to pre-register to vote, you will need to register to vote at your polling place on Election Day.  Visit the Secretary of State’s website for a complete listing of authorized proofs of residence.
  • Vote Absentee—Absentee/Early Voting Location for State Primary:

    Monday through Friday 8AM to 4:30PM beginning June 26th through August 10th
    Early voting period (with DS200 tabulator) is from July 24th through August 10th

    Extended Early Voting Hours for State Primary:
    Saturday, August 8th from 9AM to 3PM and Monday, August 10th from 8AM to 5PM

  • Remember, NO political campaign materials regarding any candidate/political party on the General Election Ballot are allowed in the polling place, which includes hats, masks, stickers, flags, etc.
